As of 2017, the Flemish institute for scientific research (FWO) had funded ** project applications which were linked to artificial intelligence, whereas the French-speaking Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique (FNRS) had given funds to **** A.I. related project applications in the same year. FWO and FNRS are institutions that stimulate the development of new knowledge by financing scientists and research projects. Even though they are doing the same work and share the same office, the organizations were split up to represent the Dutch and French speaking Belgian communities separately.
