Although the subject of a tough national debate at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century, the Dutch do not put a lot of emphasis on religious education anymore. Just over *** percent of survey participants stated they consider religious education very important. Should the same survey have been taken around 1900, one can only imagine this figure to be much higher!
