There wasn鈥檛 one big winner at the 75th Emmy Awards on Monday night, instead there were three. HBO鈥檚 鈥淪uccession鈥, FX鈥檚 鈥淭he Bear鈥 and Netflix鈥檚 鈥淏eef鈥 each dominated their respective categories, taking home six, six and five wins on the night, respectively.
At Monday鈥檚 award ceremony, which was originally supposed to take place in September but postponed due to the Hollywood writers鈥 strike, 鈥淪uccession鈥 was crowned in the 鈥淥utstanding Drama Series鈥 category, while also taking home both lead actor/actress prizes, one of two supporting actor/actress awards and one each for best writing and directing. 鈥淭he Bear鈥 managed a similar feat, nabbing 鈥淏est Comedy Series鈥, three acting Emmys and one each for best writing and directing as well. Netflix鈥檚 鈥淏eef鈥 was close behind, winning five categories on the night, including 鈥淥utstanding Limited or Anthology Series鈥 as well as both lead actor/actress awards in the category.
And while Netflix and FX got their fair share of glory at Monday night鈥檚 award show, it was HBO that took home the most wins overall once again. Including the so-called Creative Arts Emmys, which were given out on the weekend of January 6 and 7, HBO won 31 awards this year (or last year to be more precise), edging out Netflix and FX, who took home 22 and 16 awards in total, respectively. Having dominated at the Emmys for most of the past two decades, the pay-TV leader had received 127 nominations this year, marking the 21st time that it beat the competition in this regard. 鈥淪uccession鈥 followed in the footsteps of HBO classics like 鈥淭he Sopranos鈥 or 鈥淕ame of Thrones鈥, who also dominated at television鈥檚 most important award show during their time.
