Violent crime involving knives, especially in London, has been in the headlines a lot recently, but are these kind of offences really on the rise? Looking at violent crimes committed involving knives, according to the most recent Office for National Statistics (ONS) , 2017/18 did indeed see rises compared to 2016/17. Homicide involving a knife or sharp instrument increased by 34 percent. Robbery also went up by 34 percent and rape involving a knife by 8 percent.
