Over three years after the COVID-19 pandemic reached Argentina, the country had reported more than ten million confirmed cases and 130,000 deaths due to complications stemming from the disease. Nearly four million of these cases were reported between November 2021 and March 2022, fueled by the surge of the Omicron variant. Within the Latin American and Caribbean region, Argentina is among the most affected nations, with the second highest number of confirmed cases and the fifth highest mortality rate. At a local level, the most affected region has been Buenos Aires – the country’s most populous province - accounting for over a third of the country’s total cases.
