Banking industry in Kuwait - statistics & facts
In 2019, the total aggregated value of profits after tax of listed banks in Kuwait was around 1.2 billion Kuwaiti dinars, which dropped to 592 million Kuwaiti dinars after the global coronavirus pandemic in 2020. According to estimates, the number of commercial banks in Kuwait will rise to 186 by 2025. By then, the penetration rate for bank accounts will reach 99 percent as well. At the moment the penetration rate for bank accounts in the country is 90 percent.
At the beginning of 2010, only five percent of Kuwait’s banking customers used online banking. By 2025, this share was estimated to be at 38 percent.
