The ports in Sweden have always been of great importance to the country's economy due to Sweden's location. Ports account for the biggest share of the total volume of all imports and exports to and from Sweden. In 2022, nearly 71,000 ships entered Swedish ports, the majority of which—some 52,000—were passenger vessels and ferries. Almost 25 million passengers passed through ports in Sweden in 2022, up from some 17 millions in 2021 and 14 million in 2020.
