Fruit juice is a non-alcoholic beverage made from the extraction of the liquid contained in natural fruits like oranges, pineapples, strawberries, cranberries or mangoes. Other fruit beverages that are made with fruit concentrate can also fall under this category. Fruit juices are often consumed for their perceived nutritional benefits. For instance, orange juice has a perceived nutritional value because it contains vitamin C, folic acid and potassium. However, fruit juices and fruit nectars can also contain added sugar and food additives used to prolong shelf-life for example.
