Equinor - statistics & facts
The Norwegian state-owned multinational energy company Equinor was founded in 1972, originally under the name Den Norske Stats Oljeselskap AS, also known as Statoil. The company, which has operations in nearly 30 countries, changed their name to Equinor in 2018. Though Equinor is primarily an oil and gas company, it also has investments in renewable energy. Equinor has appeared among the world's leading oil and gas companies based on revenue, although it lost its spot among the most profitable companies in 2021 due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
