AMD is advancing its offering in advanced processors and graphics technologies, undoubtedly with AI in mind. Intel had long been the force in the central processing unit (CPU) market, although AMD has steadily gained ground, channeling resources into innovation in this field. Looking toward graphics processing units (GPUs), Nvidia has excelled. But perhaps now AMD's time has arrived: with surging demand from data centers, AMD hopes to push its competitors even further, particularly in accelerated computing solutions that are helping to power the AI revolution. Clearly, the October 2025 announcement that AMD had signed a multi-year deal to supply OpenAI with 6 gigawatts of AI chips, as well as giving OpenAI an option to buy up to a 10 percent stake in the company, highlights that AMD is set to be a prominent force in the AI ecosystem.
