Hotel industry in Thailand - statistics & facts
Thailand is a popular destination for tourists, attracting millions of visitors from around the globe. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Thailand had seen a rising influx of visitor arrivals since 2015. The hotel industry has thus benefitted from the increase in visitors. Altogether, Thailand had almost 800,000 hotel rooms ranging from budget to luxury hotels; the southern region accommodated the highest number of hotel rooms. Foreign visitors are key contributors to the hotel industry in Thailand. In the past years, the average proportion of international tourists staying in travel accommodations in Thailand amounted to over 30 percent, with a significant decrease during the COVID-19 pandemic.
