Podcast consumption in Italy - statistics & facts
The Italian podcast audience is growing and reached 12.1 million listeners in 2019. In 2018, Italy was already the sixth country in Europe by percentage of adult listeners of podcasts. Between 2014 and 2019, the preference for this type of audio content steadily increased, although it remains a niche product among other media services, both in terms of consumption and actual purchases. This latest aspect can also be related to the fact that most listeners access free content, while only a limited share of them would pay for podcasts.
