Singapore ranks among the global leaders in internet usage, supported by widespread access to high-speed broadband and mobile networks. As of February 2025, the country’s internet adoption rate stands at approximately 96 percent, reflecting the near-universal integration of online activities into everyday life. The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), under the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI), plays a central role in expanding internet access and regulating online infrastructure, ensuring that residents and businesses remain connected and digitally engaged.

The Singaporean government has supported rising internet usage through long-term infrastructure planning and targeted policy initiatives. For example, the expansion of internet access through the Next-Generation Nationwide Broadband Network (Next Gen NBN) has ensured ultra-fast fibre connectivity across the country. As a result, Singapore reports the world’s fastest average fixed broadband internet download speed as of March 2025, enabling seamless access to data-intensive services such as video streaming, remote work tools, and cloud applications. Most mobile activities occur within dedicated apps, as smartphones serve as multifunctional tools for social networking, entertainment, communication, payments, transportation, and food delivery.
