At just around two percent of its GDP, the Singapore government鈥檚 expenditure on health was among the lowest compared to other high-income countries. Even so, Singaporeans enjoy a high standard of health and healthcare. A person in Singapore could expect to live up to 83 years, placing it among the countries with the highest life expectancy. It also has one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world. While the island nation has made great strides in improving the state of health of its population, it would need to ensure that its healthcare system can face the challenges and needs of its increasingly aging population.
