Located in the southern part of India, Karnataka is the country's third largest economy, with a population of over 61 million. The people of Karnataka (formerly the State of Mysore) mainly speak Kannada and its different dialects, in addition to Tulu, Kodava and Konkani. Since the state is home to different ethnicities evolved in the region or due to migration, languages are arguably more diverse when compared to more monolingual regions across the country.
