The global paint and coatings industry is dominated by Sherwin-Williams and PPG Industries. In 2025, Sherwin-Williams led all competitors with a reported revenue of roughly 23.6 billion U.S. dollars, while PPG Industries generated about 15.9 billion U.S. dollars across its segments. Other important players include the Dutch multinational AkzoNobel and Japanese manufacturer Nippon Paint. Five of the ten leading global paint companies by revenue are based in the United States, underscoring the country's outsized role in the sector.
