Arnoldo Mondadori Editore, known as Mondadori, is the biggest publishing company in Italy, publishing both books and magazines. Founded in 1907 by Arnoldo Mondadori, the publishing company began publishing a magazine called "Luce!". It was not until 1912, that the first book was published. Mondadori is mainly known as a book publishing company; under the Mondadori name, there are over 30 publishing houses and related imprints in the book sector. In 2014, the subsidiary company Mondadori Libri S.p.A. was established to group the Mondadori books segment and the pre-existing publishers Giulio Einaudi Editore, Sperling & Kupfer, Piemme, Electa, and Mondadori Education. In April 2016, Rizzoli Libri was bought by the company and added to Mondadori Libri S.p.A. In 2019, Mondadori covered about 26 percent of the book publishing market in Italy.
