Also included in this group are the less thrilling, but perhaps more beloved, public parks. In 2023, the U.S. city that spent the most on parks and recreation was New York, at approximately 1.5 billion U.S. dollars. This spending did not go to waste, as the most visited city park in the U.S. that year was Central Park in New York, with around 42 million visitors.
