Limited financial incentives, long working hours, supply shortages, and inadequate safety measures are a few of the many obstacles faced by Mexican healthcare specialists. Three-quarters of doctors and a similar proportion of nurses navigate precarious working conditions. Informality and multiple jobholding are common practices in the sector, with a fifth of health specialists operating through informal channels. Vulnerable job circumstances bring about unfilled positions, leading to a noticeable deficit in the number of active professionals. This does not only weaken healthcare, but it further deteriorates employment within the sector.
