Egypt’s healthcare sector is a critical pillar of the nation’s economy and social welfare system. Amid economic and demographic shifts, the country's healthcare expenditure in 2024 accounted for 4.58 percent of its GDP, a slight decrease from the previous year but remaining largely consistent over time. Despite this, Egypt faces challenges in ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare services, particularly in rural areas. While private hospitals and health facilities have grown in number, the public sector remains the primary provider for millions of Egyptians.
