Every year, Indonesia celebrates around 13 to 15 religious public holidays, reflecting the country’s religious diversity. Despite having the world’s largest Muslim population, with 87 percent of Indonesians identifying as Muslim, the country is in fact a multi-faith nation. Indonesia officially recognizes six religions: Islam, Protestantism, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism. Religion is deeply ingrained in Indonesian society, shaping traditions, social norms, and even government policies.
