People in Canada tend to have positive health outcomes with a high life expectancy and a robust health care system that provides medically necessary care free at the point of use. However, health outcomes in Canada do vary depending on factors such as sex, race/ethnicity, income, age, and province or territory. For example, in 2022, around 59 percent of adults in Quebec reported their health status as excellent or very good, compared to 50 percent of those in New Brunswick. Likewise, those in Quebec were most likely to report their mental health as excellent or very good with 65 percent, while only around 49 percent of adults in Nova Scotia perceived their mental health status so positively.
