Mobility services in India - statistics & facts
With more and more Indians living in cities, the way people live, move, and work has changed significantly. Most conventional transportation methods have not kept up with the increasing demand for urban mobility. Some Indian cities are home to the world’s most congested roads, with traffic jams lasting hours. Not as flexible, but equally crowded metros and buses are the result of poor planning of city transport infrastructure across many of the cities in the country. This has given way to newer ways of getting around and what is now called mobility services, also known as Mobility-as-a-service (MaaS).
