Companies in Russia - statistics & facts
The market exit of several major Western companies in response to the Russia-Ukraine war has negatively contributed to Russia's business climate. Moreover, international sanctions directly targeted various Russian companies, including Rosneft, RT, Sberbank, and the United Aircraft Corporation. Russia country has seen a decline in active enterprises in recent years, even before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which most significantly hit industries like air transportation and cinemas. Even though new business registrations are increasing gradually, they are still lower than company closures, which stood at around 238,000 in 2023.
