This report presents a range of statistics and facts about vaccinations in Europe. Vaccination is an effective way to protect populations from diseases that otherwise could cause serious health problems. Recently anti-vaccination movements have grown which believe, contrary to the scientific evidence, that vaccines are harmful or ineffective. The World Health Organization has even gone so far as to list vaccine hesitancy as one of the top ten threats to global health in the future. Included within this report are data on immunization levels in Europe for many diseases, the attitudes of Europeans towards vaccination, and the prevalence of preventable diseases in Europe, with a special focus on measles.
