Additive manufacturing, commonly known as 3D printing, is a process in which 3D objects are built layer by layer, using computer-aided design (CAD) and can be done with a wide range of materials. The technology has several applications in the medical field, and has the potential to generate more benefits with a forecast increased adoption. 3D bioprinting is a much newer technology and uses bioinks mixed with living cells to print structures to be used in the human body. A chapter on this technology is also included in this report.
