This report presents a range of statistics and facts about interoperability in healthcare, with a particular focus on the situation in the United States. Interoperability in healthcare ensures that many different systems within the health sector can access, exchange, integrate, and cooperatively use data. Interoperability in healthcare has been often cited as a way to improve patient outcomes and to optimize the work of healthcare professionals. Included within this report are chapters on the current state of interoperability, issues caused by the lack of, perceptions on health data sharing, cybersecurity, and a final chapter on the future plans for interoperability.
