In 2024, some 62 percent of the tourist expenditure came via foreign visitor spending, which amounted to nearly 15.23 billion U.S. dollars. Moreover, the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic can be easily recognized. In 2020 and 2021, the share of domestic spending was higher in comparison to the foreign spending on travel and tourism. This was different in 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024 when the share of foreign spending was higher than the share of domestic spending.
