The share of individuals resorting to hospital services in Italy fluctuated considerably between 2007 and 2019. In 2018, more than ** percent of the respondents to a survey reported having resorted to hospital services during the year preceding the interview, the highest value in the period under consideration. In 2019, **** percent of respondents received care in hospitals for a minor health problem and *** percent of them were hospitalized and/or underwent surgery for a major disease.
