In 2024, the total population of Puerto Rico amounted to approximately 3.20 million inhabitants. The number of women who lived on this island exceeded the number of men by approximately 190,000. Population figures in this Caribbean island show a maintained downward trend at least since 2008. In part, this can be attributed to falling fertility levels and migration to the United States, where Puerto Ricans enjoy better rates of employment than on the island.
