The number of people beneficiating from the Personalized Autonomy Allowance (APA) in France significantly increased in the space of almost 20 years. This figure rose indeed from 596,917 in 2002 to 1.3 million people in 2019, corresponding to an increase of more than 700,000 new beneficiaries. Furthermore, a majority of French, beneficiating from this financial and social assistance, lived in a retirement home in 2019.
