Valencia is the top runners' hub in Spain. Out of the 15 largest running races that took place between January 22, 2017 and June 19, 2022 in the European country, only one was not hosted by that city: the 28th International Half Marathon Vila de Santa Paola, which took place in Alicante in 2018. The most popular race in that period was the 38th Valencia Marathon in 2018, with a total participation of 19,249 people.
