In Denmark, the
number of single mothers decreased slightly from 2015 to 2022, before increasing again in 2023. After peaking at 118,000 single mothers in 2015, the number amounted to approximately 116,000 single mothers in 2023. Among these women, most were mothers of one child, reaching a number of around 67,000. 25 Danish women were single mothers of seven children or even more.
Status of fathers 
As of January 2022, most
children living with single mothers had a father who was still alive. By comparison, the number of children with a deceased father was very low. In this year, around 10,000 10-year-old children lived with a single mother.
 Single fathers
The
number of single fathers in Denmark generally increased over the past decade. By 2021, there were nearly 13.800 single fathers with children recorded. Most single fathers, reaching a number of about 10,000,
had one child, while only one single father had seven children or more.
