In 2022, the number of voluntary pregnancy terminations in Spain amounted to over 98,000. That year, the autonomous community with the highest rate of abortions in the European country was Catalonia, with a total of 14.87 abortions performed per 1,000 women. Madrid followed, with 12.89 abortions per 1,000 women.
