SOCIMI (Listed Companies in Real Estate Markets) are companies whose main activity is the acquisition, promotion and rehabilitation of urban assets for leasing. Societies are listed on the regulated market and enjoy very favorable tax treatment. These listed companies are the result of adapting the European regulations applicable to REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) to the Spanish market.

Distribution of real estate investment by SOCIMI Spain 2014-2019
Offices along stores and malls were the most attractive real estate assets for SOCIMIs listed in the MAB during the first years of the analyzed period. However, in 2018 and 2019 residential properties ranked as the asset with the highest investment volume. SOCIMIs invested over ** euros in residential properties in both years, which supposed approximately ** percent of total investment.
