This statistic shows the lead discharges to surface and groundwater in Canada from the mineral industry from 2005 to 2014. In 2014, the discharges of lead to groundwater and surface water from the mining/mineral industry in Canada amounted to 138.6 metric tons, an amount much larger than usual because of the Mount Polley dam breach that happened in British Columbia that year, which contributed 134.2 metric tons of the total lead discharges to water in that year.
