This statistic shows the annual expenditure on trips taken for holiday, leisure or recreation purposes by residents in the European Union (EU-28) from 2012 to 2015. The data is split by outbound and domestic trips. Residents in the EU spent an estimated total of around billion euros on domestic holiday trips and billion euros on outbound holiday trips in 2015. Overall spending on outbound travel decreased that year, while overall domestic travel presented an increase.
