The coronavirus caused the value of the import of services to the Netherlands to plummet in 2020. In the second quarter, the total import value was less than 48 billion euros. In the fourth quarter of 2019, the quarterly value of the international imports of services in the Netherlands was approximately 58 billion euros. This was an increase of over 17 billion compared to the fourth quarter of 2014, signifying a gradual increase of imports in the period 2014-2019. The second quarter of 2015 recorded the highest import value with nearly 72 billion euros. The fourth quarter of 2020 suggested growth that could lead back to pre-pandemic levels at almost 55 billion euros.
