The turnover of the retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco in specialised stores in the European Union increased by 5.4 billion euros (+3.65 percent) since the previous year. Therefore, the turnover in the European Union reached a peak in 2018 with 154.4 billion euros.
Turnover is defined by Eurostat as the total of all sales (excluding VAT) of goods and services carried out by the enterprises of a given sector during the reference period.
