In Belgium, two people living together can legalize their cohabiting status. In 2022, over 36,800 declarations were made by opposite gender cohabitants. Mirroring the density of Belgium's regions, most declarations were made in Flanders, followed by the region of Wallonia. Furthermore, with around 2,900 declarations, the Brussels-Capital Region registered the least new cohabitation declarations in Belgium.
