The global penetration of mobile and wireless networks in the area of telecommunications has significantly affected Pakistan’s market. In 2019, the number of mobile and wireless network subscribers in Pakistan increased by *** percent with service providers like PMCL (Jazz) and Telenor in the lead.  
As of 2017, the most number of wireless subscriptions around the world were those of ** which were projected to rise to **** billion by 2020. As of 2018 the average mobile wireless data usage in the Asia Pacific and MENA regions were between 3 and * gigabytes per user per month placing them in the third and fifth place, respectively, in comparison to other world regions.  
Back in 2008, the mobile wireless network had a ** percent penetration in the Asian market projecting a rising trend with a penetration estimate of 97 percent in 2018. Similarly, the penetration rate of smartphones in Pakistan exhibited an upward trend with ** percent penetration in 2016 forecasted to hike to 51 percent in 2020.
