Crude bitumen is the most produced oil type in Canada. In 2019, approximately 292,000 cubic meters of crude bitumen were produced every day. Synthetic crude oil was the second most common oil type. Both unconventional oil types had seen significant growth since 1971 when only a combined 6,700 cubic meters were extracted per day.
