There were nine reported road deaths in Iceland in 2022. This was a decrease compared to the previous year. The Northern European island state is known for enforcing a strict road safety policy in order to ensure the security of its residents and tourists in the country. The Icelandic Transport Authority encourages visitors to familiarize themselves with local weather and climate conditions in order to minimize the possibility of accidents. 2012 saw the number of non-fatal road accidents declined to 1,035.
