Between 2013 and 2017, the annual number of car registrations in Italy increased steadily across all three categories. By 2021, demand across all sectors dropped significantly compared to pre-pandemic levels. Purchases from private customers fell some 15.7 percent to around 922,700 units between 2019 and 2021.
