In 2019, there were 437 enterprises in the manufacture of cocoa, chocolate and sugar confectionery industry in Poland. This represented an increase of 103 new businesses compared to 2009.
 
 Chocolate production
 
 
The
chocolate production volume in Poland has seen an overall increase over the years, reaching an all-time high record volume of 427 thousand metric tons in 2020. As a result, the
year-on-year change in production volume witnessed a 7.1 percent growth between 2019 and 2020. It can be concluded that higher production leads to higher revenue. In 2020, LOTTE Wedel, which includes E. Wedel, a Polish confectionery manufacturer, generated almost 754 million zloty in
net sales revenue.
 
Chocolate consumption
 
 
 The
monthly chocolate consumption has fluctuated since 2012, with the average Polish consumer eating 200 grams of chocolate per month in 2019. Despite the irregular consumption habits, the
average monthly expenditure on sugar products and chocolate steadily increased over the past years, totaling over 28 zloty in 2019. In terms of
chocolate brands, Milka and E. Wedel were Poles’ definite favorites.
