In 2020, business-to-consumer (B2C) e-commerce accounted for 5.19 percent of the gross domestic product in Western European countries. According to projections, the value is forecast to increase to 5.48 percent of GDP in 2021.
The unstoppable growth of e-commerce
The
share of e-commerce users is increasing at an extraordinary rate across Western Europe. Around 70 percent of the consumers  in countries like Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands have made an online purchase in 2019. Provided that, the
e-commerce share of revenue in enterprises' overall revenue has increased like never before. About 20 percent of revenue in the European Union comes with e-commerce alone.
Numbers speak for themselves
Higher usage rates and growing businesses' profits are confirmed by general figures about the market value. The European
e-commerce market has marked the highest revenue in 2021, accounting for 465.4 billion U.S. dollars. The revenue is expected to grow to 569.2 billion U.S dollars by 2025.
