In 2025, 70.5 percent of female students and 64.3 percent of male students achieved a C/4 grade or higher at GCSE level in the United Kingdom. This grade level is considered a 'pass' in the United Kingdom and throughout this period female students have consistently outperformed male students, with both male and females achieving their highest pass rates in 2021.
