The statistic shows the tablet market share of Apple and Samsung in the United States from the second quarter of 2010 to the fourth quarter of 2011. Samsung captured a 2.1 percent share of U.S. tablet shipments in the second quarter of 2011. Apple’s success with the iPad brought the tablet industry back to life. Numerous high-profile electronics manufacturers such as Samsung, RIM and HP released tablet computers in quick succession, but so far none of them has been able to replicate the iPad’s success. From the iPad launch up until September 2011, global iPad sales have amounted to 40 million units, generating 25 billion U.S. dollars in revenue.
