On March 15th, 2026, the first round of municipal elections was held across France. Candidates and their lists reaching at least 10 percent of the cast votes qualified for the second round held on March 22nd.

Emmanuel Grégoire, supported by a coalition of the Socialist Party, the Communist Party, and the Greens (EELV), was elected mayor of the French capital for his first term with 50.52 percent of the vote. In doing so, he decisively defeated his main competitor, Rachida Dati. Paris has now been led by a leftist mayor for 25 consecutive years.
