In 2022, Rwanda is the country with the highest proportion of women sitting in parliament in the world. Only three countries worldwide have more women than men in their parliament, namely Rwanda, Cuba, and Nicaragua. Conversely, several countries have no women in their parliament, such as Tonga and Vanuatu.

France has 37.8 percent women in the National Assembly, ranking 35th among the most gender-equal countries in the world on this issue, far behind Sweden, Spain, and Belgium.
